Anna Cooper

"And I think tracking your symptoms and tracking your cycle in general just validates how you’re feeling and validates and gives that validity for when you’re going to the GP and saying, look, here it is, in black and white, this is how I’ve been suffering."

Anna Cooper, co-founder of the Menstrual Health Project, and Dr Rebeccah Tomlinson joined us to answer questions from the Sunflower community about Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD).

In addition to explaining the differences between PMDD and PMS/PMT, they advised about how to seek support. They also spoke about how important it is to track your cycle.

Questions from the community:

1.       What are the common symptoms of PMDD?

2.       What’s the tipping point where PMS becomes PMDD?

3.       How do people cope with PMDD / what accommodations do people give themselves?

4.       Is there a possibility that the symptoms get less severe or even completely stop by itself?

The Sunflower Conversations is a podcast that delves into different non-visible health conditions to enable the listener to learn more about the causes and symptoms and the physical and social impacts that can occur. The conversations are with Sunflower wearers who share their lived experience of disability and who give a walkthrough of the ups and downs that are personal to them.

We also talk to healthcare professionals and charity experts who deliver an overview of specific disabilities and offer advice and signposting for support. If you are experiencing any issues discussed in this podcast, please contact your healthcare practitioner.
