One of Ireland's largest National coach services, GoBus.ie has partnered with Hidden Disabilities Sunflower enhancing accessibility and inclusivity in public transportation.
GoBus, one of Ireland's leading providers of scheduled coach services, is proud to announce its commitment to enhancing accessibility and inclusivity by recognising the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower on all its services. The initiative aims to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to public transportation and enjoy a seamless travel experience.
Recognising the importance of creating an inclusive transportation system, GoBus has taken significant steps to accommodate the diverse needs of passengers. By recognising the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, the company aims to eliminate barriers and make public transportation more accessible for individuals with disabilities, empowering them to travel freely and independently.
Tristan Casson-Rennie, Regional Director Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, Ireland & Northern Ireland said,
“The accessibility for people with non-visible disabilities to travel on the GoBus or Irish Citylink networks continues to grow. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower has enjoyed a very successful partnership with Irish Citylink over the past year, and we look forward to working with the GoBus team to ensure a positive experience for those travelling on both networks who may require support, understanding or a little extra time.”
The recognition of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is part of GoBus's ongoing efforts to improve accessibility. The company aims to make modifications to its buses and facilities in the coming years, including priority seating for individuals with disabilities and improved signage to assist visually impaired passengers. By incorporating these enhancements, GoBus aims to provide all passengers with a comfortable and safe travel experience. The initiative allows the company to help passengers travel confidently and independently on the Sunflower-friendly coach services across its direct routes between Cork to Dublin City and Airport, Galway to Dublin City and Airport and Galway to Ballina Commuter network.
Speaking at the GoBus and Hidden Disabilities partnership launch, Minister for Disability Anne Rabbitte expressed support, stating,
"Irish Citylink and GoBus provide essential connections to towns and cities across Ireland and make it possible for people in areas like Tuam, Claremorris, Loughrea and Ballinasloe to access transport. I welcome the partnership of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and GoBus as it makes these important services inclusive for those with non-visible disabilities to travel confidently."
To ensure a smooth transition and seamless experiences for passengers, GoBus has trained its staff in disability awareness and assistance techniques. The company's employees have undergone specialised training programs, including the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower training, to foster an inclusive environment and provide appropriate support to individuals with disabilities.
Citylink and GoBus General Manager Frances Cahill said,"Promoting a safe and inclusive environment is a key part of our corporate responsibility. Hidden Disabilities helps us improve the support we give our passengers in providing equal opportunities for independent travel"
