DCC Technology is proud to announce that it has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, initiative reflecting its dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all its people. The Sunflower, already implemented by Exertis UK, aims to offer discreet assistance to colleagues, customers, and visitors with hidden disabilities by providing Sunflower lanyards, which signal the need for extra time, help, or understanding.

The Sunflower is globally recognised as a symbol of support for individuals with non-visible disabilities, such as autism, visual impairments, and mental health conditions.  By integrating this program into all workplaces, DCC is taking a significant step toward creating an empathetic and inclusive space where everyone can thrive.

Clive Fitzharris, CEO of DCC Technology, said:

“Our participation in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower highlights DCC Technology's ongoing commitment to inclusivity. This initiative will ensure that those who may need additional support feel comfortable and understood, whether they are our colleagues, customers, or visitors. We are taking a meaningful step toward building a workplace that truly embodies empathy, inclusivity, equality and respect.”

As part of this initiative, DCC will train staff members to recognise the Sunflower symbol and respond appropriately, ensuring that those who wear the Sunflower lanyards, pin badges, or use the logo as part of their email signature or meeting backgrounds lanyards receive the support they require. This training will also be available online through the Learning Management System (LMS), and trained staff will receive badges, certificates, or logos to mark completion.

Tim Griffin, CEO of Exertis IT, added:

“We want to ensure that DCC continues to lead by example when it comes to inclusivity. By implementing the Sunflower, we are not just improving customer experiences but continuing to foster a culture of inclusivity and understanding within our own teams. The Sunflower allows us to recognise and assist those with hidden disabilities in a discreet and respectful manner, ensuring that all individuals feel valued and understood within our spaces.”

Through the introduction of visible signage, training sessions, and dedicated resources, DCC Technology is focused on continuous improvement in accessibility and inclusivity.

Paul White, CEO of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, said:

“DCC Technology’s membership in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower connects them to our global network of like-minded businesses that place disability inclusion at the forefront of their culture. The Sunflower training rolled out company-wide encourages discussion about diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, ultimately improving accessibility for DCC’s colleagues and customers.”
