By joining the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, we ask your company to pledge to create a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals with non-visible disabilities who may need additional assistance, understanding, or more time.

By doing so, you commit to actively supporting individuals with non-visible disabilities through meaningful actions. This involves raising awareness about non-visible disabilities, implementing thoughtful accommodations, and fostering an environment of respect and understanding. Taking the pledge is not just a symbolic gesture—it’s a promise to continuously advocate for inclusivity and ensure that every individual with a non-visible disability feels valued and supported within their organization.

What is the Sunflower pledge?

We ask you to commit to:

  • Training your workforce: Before you launch the Sunflower and over time, to aim to train at least 80% of our current and future employees. This training will help them understand what the Sunflower symbol means, what non-visible disabilities are, and how to approach and support individuals wearing the Sunflower.

  • Promoting awareness: To increase awareness of our Sunflower-friendly approach by sharing information about the Sunflower on our website’s accessibility page and, when relevant, on the Sunflower location map. To use communication platforms to educate our team and customers about different non-visible disabilities, conditions, and chronic illnesses, helping to build understanding.

  • Creating an inclusive environment: To create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, and people with non-visible disabilities feel respected, valued, and supported.

Recognition through the Sunflower program

Once you have taken the Sunflower Pledge, your company receive a digital badge to proudly display your commitment to inclusivity once you launch the Sunflower. This badge can be used across various platforms to promote your status as a Sunflower member.

Corporate and Global members are awarded an annual badge, showcasing their ongoing dedication to supporting individuals with non-visible disabilities. Other Sunflower members receive a generic badge, symbolising their participation and shared values with the Sunflower. These badges serve as a visible reminder of your efforts to create a more inclusive world for individuals with non-visible disabilities.
