Doha, Qatar:

Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) has announced the launch of the Sunflower program across the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks, reinforcing its commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible travel experience for all passengers. The Sunflower program is a globally recognised initiative that uses a sunflower symbol as a discreet and voluntary way for passengers to indicate that they may have a hidden disability and could require additional support, more time, or clearer communication during their journey.

This initiative is part of Qatar Rail’s ongoing efforts to elevate customer experience across its networks, building on the successful introduction of the Best Buddies program last year, which received strong engagement and positive feedback from customers.
As a Sunflower-enabled transport network, Qatar Rail has integrated the program across key passenger touchpoints, including stations and onboard services, to ensure a consistent and supportive experience.

Customer service teams have undergone specialised training to recognise the Sunflower symbol and are well-equipped to assist passengers with hidden disabilities with empathy, professionalism, and care. This ensures that individuals who may require additional support are met with understanding and respect at every stage of their journey. Under its unifying “Every Journey Matters” umbrella, Qatar Rail continues to advance inclusive initiatives that ensure every customer can travel with dignity, confidence, and care. This approach reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and aligns with its ESG priorities.

Additionally, in collaboration with its service provider, RKH Qitarat company, Qatar Rail is exploring additional initiatives aimed at further enhancing accessibility and comfort for different passenger groups, as part of its ongoing journey to continuously improve the customer experience. These initiatives reflect Qatar Rail’s ambition to go beyond transport, creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every journey truly matters.

Through the implementation of the Sunflower program, Qatar Rail remains committed to strengthening its role in promoting accessibility, inclusivity, and service excellence across the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram, contributing to a more supportive public transport system in the State of Qatar.
