Parques Reunidos takes a significant step forward in its commitment to accessibility and inclusion by joining the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, becoming the first company in Spain to join this initiative. This alliance reinforces the group's dedication to ensuring an inclusive experience for all visitors by providing a more welcoming and understanding environment for individuals with non-visible disabilities.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is an internationally recognized program that enables individuals with disabilities to wear the Sunflower symbol, signaling to park employees their need for support or understanding while navigating various facilities and attractions. Through this initiative, Parques Reunidos will implement the program in eleven of its parks in Spain: Faunia, Zoo Aquarium Madrid, Atlantis Aquarium Madrid, Aquopolis Villanueva, Aquopolis Cartaya, Aquopolis Costa Dorada, Aquopolis Cullera, Aquopolis Torrevieja, Selwo Aventura, Selwo Marina, and Teleférico Benalmádena. This expansion follows the successful adoption of the program in other European parks within the group, including BonBon-Land, Bø Sommerland, and Tropical Islands.
Isidora Díaz, Chief HSE & Sustainability Officer at Parques Reunidos, stated:
"At Parques Reunidos, we firmly believe in creating leisure spaces that are accessible to everyone. Our participation in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program reflects our commitment to inclusion and allows us to continue advancing in the development of experiences where all individuals, regardless of their abilities, feel welcomed and supported."
Paul White, CEO, Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, added:
"We are delighted to welcome Parques Reunidos to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. As the first Spanish company and leisure destination to launch the Sunflower, it demonstrates its positive approach to accessibility by prioritising disability inclusion for its staff and visitors across its visitor attractions. The Sunflower signals to staff that the wearer has a non-visible disability and may need an offer of support, extra time and understanding, ensuring that they have a welcoming and inclusive experience and will want to visit again.”
