lux-Airport Joins Global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, Enhancing Support for Passengers with Non-Visible Disabilities

Luxembourg Airport's operating company, lux-Airport, is proud to announce its membership in the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, marking a significant step toward a more inclusive and accessible travel experience for all passengers.

As the first company in Luxembourg to officially join this international program. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, an internationally recognised symbol, allows individuals with non-visible disabilities to discreetly indicate that they may need additional support or understanding during their journey through the airport.

In line with its commitment to accessibility, lux-Airport offers the Sunflower lanyard free of charge at the information desk in Terminal A.  Airport staff who interact with passengers have received dedicated training to recognise the Sunflower and a wide range of non-visible disabilities and to provide empathetic, personalised support. It’s important to note that the Sunflower does not grant access to VIP areas or Fast Track lanes but rather fosters a more respectful and supportive travel environment.

In 2024, the airport served over 5 million passengers heading to more than 120 direct destinations. The Sunflower Program aligns with Lux-Airport's ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and passenger satisfaction, ensuring every passenger's needs are recognised and supported.

Alexander Flassek, CEO , lux-Airport:

“At lux-Airport, we are constantly working to improve the experience of all our passengers. Our aim is making travel more accessible and comfortable for everyone. By implementing the Sunflower program, we’re taking a significant step towards ensuring that every traveler, regardless of their visible or invisible challenges, can navigate our airport with dignity and peace of mind. This initiative represents an important step in our ongoing commitment to creating a more accessible airport environment.”

Paul White, CEO of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower:

“The announcement that lux-Airport has joined the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is welcome news for accessibility in aviation. It is a demonstration of lux-Airport’s approach to improving disability inclusion at the airport for passengers with non-visible disabilities. Airport staff have received training to offer Sunflower wearers support, understanding, and extra time. The Sunflower is connecting the world and helping to make travel possible for everyone.”
