Google Ireland has become a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower.

Some disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses are not immediately apparent to others. This can make it difficult for some people to understand and believe that someone with a "non-visible" condition genuinely needs support. That is why Google Ireland has proudly joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to make the workplace more inclusive for employees, clients and partners.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower was created to encourage inclusivity, acceptance and understanding. Google believes everyone belongs, and that’s why this new membership is important.

Google’s Employee Resource group, the Disability Alliance, has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to become a Sunflower-friendly workplace in the coming year.

Karen Stolberg, Managing Director & Executive Sponsor, Disability Alliance Google Ireland, said:

"We are incredibly passionate about supporting people with hidden disabilities at Google Ireland and proud to launch this program across our site."

It is a simple, globally recognised tool for voluntarily sharing that the wearer has an invisible disability. The Sunflower removes the language barrier, and by wearing it, it lets everyone know the wearer might need an offer of support, understanding, or more time.

The training that Sunflower provides will be used to create a Sunflower-friendly workplace and an environment where every employee, visitor, customer, partner and volunteer can thrive in the long run.
