Enhanced awareness for passengers with non-visible disabilities at Stuttgart Airport

At Stuttgart Airport, the Sunflower lanyard offers support for travellers with invisible disabilities. The aim is to draw attention to physical or psychological limitations that are not immediately apparent. In this way, airport staff can be prepared to offer Sunflower wearers a little more time or assistance with the various steps involved prior to departure or upon arrival.

The Sunflower is an internationally recognized symbol for hidden disabilities. In Germany, it has already been officially introduced at Hamburg Airport, Berlin Airport, and now also at Stuttgart Airport. The Sunflower lanyard is available free of charge to passengers at the information desk in Terminal 3, Departure, among other locations.

Ulrich Heppe, CEO of Stuttgart Airport, said:

"The Sunflower is a powerful symbol of respect and inclusion. At Stuttgart Airport, the Sunflower lanyard helps us to give our travellers with invisible disabilities the service and attention they need. We want to be an airport for everyone."

Paul White, CEO of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Stuttgart Airport to the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. The Sunflower is a discreet way to indicate that the wearer has a non-visible disability and may need an offer of support, understanding and kindness. Stuttgart Airport’s commitment to inclusive and accessible travel benefits passengers globally who travel to and from Germany.”
