In recognition of International Day for Persons with Disabilities, real estate firm Savills has launched the latest instalment of its ‘Proud Voices’ campaign, celebrating diversity and inclusion through the personal stories and professional journeys of its employees.

The video features four Savills employees who share their lived experiences with non-visible disabilities and reflect on how the support of their colleagues and workplace has helped them throughout their careers.

The launch of the video comes as Savills announces its membership of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, a global initiative supporting individuals with non-visible disabilities.

Film description: Four employees from Savills all share their own unique story of living with a disability. One gentleman shares how his daughter is lives with a disability and how the Sunflower supports her.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network

Some disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses are not immediately obvious to others. For some people, this can make it hard to understand that someone needs support.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network has created the Sunflower symbol which offers a discreet way for people to indicate they may need extra time, understanding, or support.

Savills membership marks an important step in creating a more inclusive and compassionate workplace for employees, clients and visitors. Staff will be offered training to help deepen their understanding of the Sunflower symbol, what it means, and how they can best offer support to colleagues who choose to wear it.

Paula Moore, head of talent development at Savills UK, Europe & Middle East, said:

“As part of our continued commitment to inclusion across our workplaces, we are thrilled to join forces with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, who are globally recognised for their efforts to increase disability awareness or conditions that may not be immediately apparent.

We believe in creating a space where people can thrive. This means embedding a culture where our people are all valued, respected and made to feel included. This membership allows us to better educate our teams and contribute to breaking down the stigma around hidden disabilities.”

Paul White, CEO, Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, said:

"Savills Sunflower membership demonstrates leadership in creating inclusive environments for employees, clients and visitors. Combined with its 'Proud Voices' campaign, the Sunflower makes space for honest conversations to improve awareness and understanding of non-visible disabilities. Marking Savills out in its commitment to be an inclusive employer."
