ElectraLink joins the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to support people with non-visible disabilities
ElectraLink is proud to announce that it has officially joined the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network – a globally recognised symbol that helps make the invisible visible by supporting people with non-visible disabilities.
The Sunflower symbol, typically worn as a lanyard, badge, or displayed on a vehicle, indicates that someone may have a non-visible disability and may require a little extra time, patience, or support. Conditions may include autism, chronic pain, dementia, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities, among others.
By joining the Sunflower, ElectraLink strives to champion understanding and acceptance for employees, customers and wider industry colleagues.
Amelia Heatley, Director of Diversity and Engagement at ElectraLink, commented:
"One of our core values at ElectraLink is to Be Open and Inclusive, and joining the Sunflower helps us to recognise and respect the challenges people may be facing that we can’t always see. We’re proud to raise awareness of the Sunflower within the business and hope to empower colleagues to feel confident and safe in signalling a need for extra support, so we can all work at our best together.”
Paul White, CEO of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, added:
"Electralink are clearly committed to creating an inclusive workplace for its colleagues. Using the Sunflower training and building an ongoing awareness-raising programme ensures the Sunflower is woven into the business's disability inclusion objectives. Colleagues will be able to discuss their individual needs with confidence, which ultimately improves the overall health and wellbeing of everyone."
As a Sunflower member, ElectraLink is aiming to create a more inclusive environment by rolling out targeted awareness and training initiatives across its teams and spaces. Sunflower items are now freely available to all employees, and company-wide training was delivered at ElectraLink’s annual internal conference earlier this year to help all employees understand the Sunflower’s purpose and increase awareness of non-visible disabilities. These training efforts will be embedded into manager guidance and new employee onboarding to ensure maximum visibility of the programme long-term.
