The AA are proud to announce the launch of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower across the business, reinforcing our commitment to creating an inclusive environment for everybody.

The Sunflower is a symbol for people living with non-visible disabilities to indicate they might need additional support, understanding or time.

With specialist training implemented across the business, the Sunflower will enable our colleagues to support our customers and each other better, helping us achieve our goal of creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels they belong.

Sarah Barnett, Head of Talent Leadership and Inclusion, said:

"We strive to create a safe and inclusive workplace and this is the next step in ensuring we’re allowing customers to seek additional support and assistance when needed. By proudly displaying the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower we are sending a clear message that we value and support individuals with invisible disabilities.”

Stacey Forster, Ability Network Co-Chair, said:

"The AA has a number of networks, one of these being the Ability Network who advocate for our people. One of the initiatives that we have been working on is the Hidden Disability Sunflower and we are proud to announce our membership. We strive to create a safe and inclusive workplace, and this is the next step in ensuring we’re allowing customers and colleagues to seek additional support and assistance when needed. By proudly displaying the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower we are sending a clear message that we value and support individuals with invisible disabilities.”

Paul White, CEO, of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, added:

“It is a pleasure to welcome the AA to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. The 24/7 vehicle recovery operator responds to motorists in their time of need, providing comfort to customers stranded in their vehicles who require help and assistance. The Sunflower aligns perfectly with the AA's objectives in customer service and user experience. It is the perfect travel companion for individuals who have invisible disabilities. The small and discreet symbol lets people know that the wearer may need an offer of support, extra time and understanding.”
