NoVacancy Expo Proudly Supports the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
NoVacancy Expo, Australia’s largest hotel and accommodation industry event, has proudly joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network.
Terrapinn and NoVacancy support the globally recognised sunflower initiative as it reflects their commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible experience for every attendee – whether they are a guest, speaker, exhibitor, or part of our event team.
In the fast-paced environment of large industry events, it’s not always obvious when someone may need a little more time, understanding, or support. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple but powerful way for individuals to voluntarily signal that they have a non-visible disability and that they may appreciate a helping hand or a bit more patience.
By integrating the Sunflower into NoVacancy, the organisation aims to reduce barriers and ensure all members of our community feel seen, respected, and supported. This initiative is part of NoVacancy's broader mission to make the event as accessible as it is informative, future-focused, and engaging.
The NoVacancy team is actively working to foster an environment where inclusivity is more than a policy – it’s part of the culture. Staff and event partners are briefed on the meaning of the Sunflower and how to appropriately offer support when they see it. From registration to session participation and networking opportunities, NoVacancy want every touchpoint of the event to be approachable and inclusive for all.
We know that many individuals live with conditions that are not immediately visible, including autism, anxiety, chronic pain, sensory sensitivities, and mental health conditions. The Sunflower empowers these individuals to move through busy environments with greater confidence, knowing they are in a space where understanding is actively encouraged. As the hotel and accommodation industry continues to evolve, accessibility and inclusion must remain central to how we design and deliver experiences – not just for guests, but for professionals too.
