Welcome Museums Victoria to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program!

We’re thrilled to announce that Museums Victoria has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, taking a significant step towards supporting and raising awareness for those living with a hidden disability.

Many disabilities are not immediately visible, such as autism, dementia, mental health conditions, and learning disabilities. By adopting the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, Museums Victoria offers a discreet yet effective way for visitors to communicate their need for additional support. Those wearing the Sunflower lanyard or wristband can signal to staff across all Museums Victoria locations—including Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum, Scienceworks, IMAX Melbourne, and the Royal Exhibition Building—that they may require some extra assistance.

To ensure all visitors receive the help they need, Museums Victoria has trained both front-facing and back-of-house staff to provide respectful and discreet support. This initiative allows staff to recognise and respond appropriately, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone.

We are proud to have Museums Victoria as a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program and applaud their commitment to inclusivity, ensuring every visitor feels respected and supported.
