Intereach joins the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program

Intereach has officially joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to breaking down barriers and creating inclusive communities for people with hidden disabilities.

Sunflower lanyards and products are now available at all 17 Intereach offices across NSW and Victoria, allowing staff and community members to discreetly signal that they may need a little extra time, understanding, or support. Intereach staff are also undertaking training to recognise the Sunflower symbol and provide assistance in a respectful and empathetic way.

Intereach Co-CEO Yvette Buhagiar said:

We are proud to become part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower as it’s one more way we can show leadership in diversity and inclusion, ensuring people living with a hidden disability feel recognised, respected and supported.

For Andrea, a Customer Support Officer based in Bendigo who lives with a hidden disability, the initiative has been personally meaningful:

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower empowers me to embrace my strengths and challenges, fostering understanding and inclusion in every aspect of my life.

HD Sunflower Development Consultant Paul Power said:

We are delighted Intereach has joined the Sunflower network, demonstrating their strong commitment to inclusion and accessibility across all their services. By providing products and training staff to respond with empathy, Intereach is helping build communities where people with hidden disabilities feel seen, respected, and supported.

Thank you to Intereach for championing inclusion and helping make the invisible visible!
