Hamilton Street Railway joins the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme Hamilton Street Railway is pleased to announce its participation in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme, strengthening its commitment to accessibility and inclusion for people with non-apparent disabilities.

The global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple yet powerful symbol that helps Hamilton Street Railway's teams recognize and assist someone with a non-apparent disability, conditions or chronic illness.

This step supports both customers and employees across Hamilton, helping to ensure public transit is a space where everyone can travel with confidence, dignity, and understanding.

As part of the programme, customers who choose to wear the Sunflower can discreetly indicate that they may require extra time, patience, or assistance while travelling. This helps create a more respectful and supportive environment across Hamilton’s transit network.

Raising awareness across the network Hamilton Street Railway plays a key role in connecting communities across the city. By integrating the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme into its services, HSR is taking a practical step toward reducing barriers and improving the customer experience for people with non-apparent disabilities. To support the launch, Sunflower branding has been introduced across selected communications, including a dedicated bus wrap, helping to raise awareness and signal support across the network. Hidden Disabilities Sunflower continues to work with transport providers across Canada and internationally to support more inclusive travel for people with non-apparent disabilities.

Clare Kumar, Regional Director Canada, said:
