Supermarket giant Lidl GB has become a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to support its customers and colleagues with unseen disabilities and conditions. The Sunflower has been launched at its 960+ stores across England, Scotland and Wales, and Lidl’s colleagues have been informed of what they should do if they see someone wearing a Sunflower product.
The discounter employs more than 31,000 people and is the 6th largest supermarket in the UK with a market share of 7.7%. The statistics tell us that a significant proportion of its colleagues and customers will experience an unseen disability or condition at some stage in their lives, and therefore, implementing the Sunflower is a positive step towards creating an inclusive environment.
Lidl is making Sunflower lanyards and pin badges available for its colleagues in order to support them both in and outside work. Deciding whether to share the details of your health is a personal choice, but the Sunflower enables those conversations to occur in a safe, Sunflower-friendly environment.
This demonstrates Lidl’s commitment to creating an accessible shopping experience for everyone.
