Atlanta Airport's mission is to provide a safe, enjoyable travel experience as well as equal access for guests and passengers with disabilities and/or special needs at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The Office works closely with Airport stakeholders to ensure the best provision of services to passengers with disabilities. The Office also assists guests in resolving disputes regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We continually seek and implement best practices in providing excellent service to all passengers and guests.
Hartsfield-Jackson’s ADA Office is mandated under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. 794), Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (28 CFR Part 35) and the Air Carrier Access Act (Title 14 CFR Part 382) with ensuring Airport facilities are accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Not all disabilities are visible – some disabilities can be invisible to an onlooker, such as autism, anxiety, hearing loss, PTSD, and more. Awareness of hidden disabilities or disabilities that the passengers may not disclose to be recognized provides an opportunity to ensure seamless travel for all passengers is a main goal for Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower has one simple purpose: You choose to wear a Sunflower lanyard, badge, or pin when it suits you to let people discreetly know that you, or someone with you, has a non-visible disability and may need extra help, understanding, or just more time.
