We are proud to announce the launch of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower and Yarra Trams Community Partnerships Program with the big reveal of our Sunflower Tram. Supporting this year’s partnership theme, ‘Uplift, Empower and Grow,’ the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower team with Blend Creative have designed a Tram wrap to encourage organisations to join the program and make their services more inclusive for people with Hidden Disabilities.

Carla Purcell, Chief Executive Officer, Yarra Trams says:

“We’re delighted to partner with Hidden Disabilities to showcase their Sunflower Scheme on our final tram for the 2024 Yarra Trams Community Partnership Program. We are proud to share this important message across Melbourne’s tram network.”

Please enjoy this brief video of the unveiling of the design that features participants from Bayley House with Yarra Tram employees.

Thanks to Sandee Facy for the Sunflower soundtrack.

As a Sunflower-Friendly organisation, Yarra Trams invited Hidden Disabilities to be part of their Community Partnerships Program which acknowledges and supports for-purpose businesses focusing on important issues that are meaningful to Melbournians.

Wearing the Sunflower discreetly indicates to people around the wearer including staff, volunteers, and colleagues that the wearer may need additional support, help, or a little more time. Yarra Trams has trained hundreds of staff to recognise the Sunflower and support wearers to improve access and inclusion on trams networks across Melbourne. If you see a tram employee out on the network wearing a sunflower supporter badge, feel free to say hello and ask them about their training.

The Sunflower tram will be travelling on Routes 48 and 109 until 28th November.
Download the Tram-tracker app and enter tram number 3033 to find it on the network.

A huge Thank You to the team at Yarra Trams, Blend Creative for the incredible design, Travellers Aid Australia and Public Transport Victoria for all your support.
