Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is proud to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program.
Joining the Program is an important part of their ongoing commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, and aligns with AUT's values of pono, tika, and aroha (respect, integrity, and compassion).
AUT has become part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network so that they can continue to build a culture throughout the University where they can break down barriers, foster an inclusive environment, and empower all our staff to normalise conversations around disabilities and respond appropriately.
AUT People & Culture Group Director, Stephen Davies, said the decision to join the global network is an important part of our commitment to ensure AUT’s staff and students with a hidden disability feel supported, valued and understood.
“Our staff and students should feel safe to voluntarily disclose disabilities and receive the support they need. It is equally important that all of us start the conversation about barriers that people with a disability face, and challenge perceptions towards disability within the workplace or on campus,” Mr Davies said.
