ASB Bank Becomes the First Bank in New Zealand to Join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program
ASB Bank is proud to become the first bank in New Zealand to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program. Recognising that not all disabilities are visible, the bank has taken a significant step towards fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for both its customers and staff.
97% of ASB Bank’s frontline staff have completed training to identify the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard or pin. This ensures that individuals wearing the Sunflower receive the additional support or understanding they may need, creating a more accessible and inclusive banking experience.
David Wills, ASB’s Chief Technology Officer and Executive Sponsor of ASB’s Neurodiversity Network Group, is an advocate for the program. In this video, David shares more about life with a hidden disability and advice to his younger self.
With nearly a quarter of New Zealanders living with a disability, many of which are non-apparent, this is a significant step towards creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all. We’re excited to see ASB Bank lead the way in fostering understanding and support for those with hidden disabilities.
